 Nonags

Used to be the number one source for freeware and "nag-free" shareware. I haven't used that site for quite some time either, as they virtually publish anything, no matter how useless a tool might be (see the guestbook for a graphical user interface to the default "ping" command).

 Tucows

A real classic, though it's not my first stop when looking for small tools etc. I find Tucows rather complicated to navigate and a lot of mirrors seem to have missed the last couple of years updates. However, probably the largest free- and shareware site, a lot of PDA (Palm, EPOC etc.) downloads as well.

Another big download site. Free- and Shareware are nicely separated, so there's no need to browse through loads of shareware if you're looking for a tiny freeware tool.
